In Spotfire, there are three page navigation methods

  1. Tiled tabs
  2. Step by step
  3. History arrows
The user may change between page navigation methods by right clicking on a page name, selecting Page Navigation and then changing the page navigation method.  This change may also be performed in the Edit menu, Document Properties, General tab.

Characteristics of Tiled Tabs
  1. User will see all the page tabs and their names at the top of the screen.
  2. When the page tabs exceed the length of the screen, double arrows will be presented to navigate from page to page.
  3. There is a drop down menu at the top right hand side of the screen to jump to any page.

Characteristics of Step by Step
  1. The intention of this page navigation method is to have the user or consumer move chronologically through an analysis.
  2. The page name appears in the top left hand corner of the analsysis window, and users may navigate by clicking on the numbered pages on the right hand side of the screen, although they cannot see the page names until they click on the number.
  3. Different from Tiles Tabs in that there is not a Go to Page option on the right hand side of the screen.
  4. When this navigation method is selected, the add new page button is grayed out and unavailable.

Characteristics of History Arrows
  1. The intention of this page navigation method is to only show the user or consumer what they need to see.
  2. History arrows greatly restricts how the consumer navigates.
  3. The user cannot see the page names.
  4. The user can only navigate with forward and backward arrows and buttons provided by the author of the DXP file.
  5. When this navigation method is selected, the add new page button is grayed out and unavailable.
